Folk groups

The Suiti have inherited from previous generations a rich heritage of traditional culture. And this heritage continues to be nurtured, developed and applied in life today by a series of different ensembles and folklore groups. Probably many have heard and seen the Suiti women of Alsunga. They could be ahead of many professional singers by the number of concerts, organized events and performances.

In addition to the Suiti women of Alsunga, there are also the Suiti of Gudenieki, the Small Suiti. Suiti men sing and Suiti bagpipers play music. There are active dance groups in Alsunga and Jūrkalne. The new generation of singers grows up and practices in Suitiņi of Alsunga. We’ll tell you a little more about all of them in the following sections.
