Grāveri school

Several new schools were opened in the Alsunga district (rajons) between 1950 to 1955. A three-grade school with two teachers and about 40-50 students was also opened in Grāveri (pictured). It was placed in a wooden building in the center of the manor after the previous residents of the house were deported to Siberia. Grades 1 and 2 studied together in one room. Grade 3 separately. The teacher also had an apartment in the school building. When the children gave performances and a stage was needed, it was made from a barn door. The school in Grāveri started in 1951 and existed only until 1954, when its students were transferred to Alsunga secondary school.
