Parish priests

Since old times, the Suiti have been in the habit of calling their parish priests by the name Kungs (Lords). I must go to the Lord, said the Suit, going up to the priest’s house. And this word of the Lord, in their understanding, is suitable only for the priest. This habit probably comes from the Lithuanian word kunigas – pastor, but it is so rooted in the suits that priests themselves used it.

Over the centuries, many interesting people, including truly outstanding personalities, have performed clerical duties in the Land of Suiti. Poles, Lithuanians, Germans, Latvians, Suits… You can get acquainted with their names (as they are written in Latvian) and years of activity here.
